Judy Baker Announces for Lt. Gov.

Columbia, MO – Judy Baker, former State Representative and Congressional candidate, announced her candidacy today for Missouri Lieutenant Governor citing her commitmentto creating jobs and continuing to champion initiatives that help seniors lead active livesand assist veterans in transitioning back to civilian life.

“Sadly, too often politicians in Jefferson City spend their time working to score cheappolitical points at the expense of the other party. That’s got to stop. I believe Missouriansare looking for sensible leadership and elected officials with realistic solutions to thechallenges facing our state. I’ve always worked as a practical problem solver and pledgeto continue that approach if given the chance to continue my public service,” said Baker,a former State Representative from Columbia.

Baker left the Missouri House of Representatives in 2008 to run for the United StatesCongress against now Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer in the old 9thCongressionalDistrict, getting more votes than any Democrat in 20 years in the mostly rural district.

“I was proud to have strong grassroots support in my last effort and will work tirelessly inthis campaign to energize ordinary Missourians looking for fresh leadership,” said Baker.

During her public service, Baker has worked on non-partisan approaches to challengesfacing Missouri families. As examples, she led efforts to assist seniors to remain in theirhomes and to provide enhanced services to returning veterans facing mental healthchallenges.

“Missouri deserves a Lieutenant Governor who understands its needs and will work withthe legislature to help enact Governor Nixon’s jobs agenda,” Baker said. “As we work to create jobs across the state, promoting a high quality health care workforce to meet thegrowing needs of our seniors must be part of that agenda.”
