Missouri workers are among the hardest working people in America. In fact, they’re among the most productive in the world. Judy knows about the Missouri workforce first hand, because before her public service, she spent years meeting payrolls and helping businesses modernize and grow. As Lt. Governor, Judy will help sell Missouri to businesses around the country and the world as a great place to do business and on the productivity and work ethic of our workforce.
The way forward for Missouri is to expand the economic pie–with new jobs and business opportunities. She knows that to have a thriving economy, we need to create a climate where Missouri businesses can create jobs and where Missouri workers are given the tools they need to help those businesses prosper and to provide for their families.
As Lt. Governor, Judy will fight to enhance Missouri’s robust tourism industry, and work to help promote its growing agritourism.
And we must maintain good schools everywhere in Missouri so that we can continue to create a high quality workforce for both the businesses of today and the future. We have to fight for funding to ensure that Missouri’s universities can continue exciting research in a wide variety of dynamic fields and generate patents and other pathways to the businesses of the future–homegrown right here in Missouri.
And we can create jobs in Missouri by fighting to be at the forefront of communites designed to support aging baby boomers–who have expertise and wisdom to Missouri’s economy for years to come.
Governor Nixon has laid out an ambitious jobs agenda for Missouri, his Missouri Works plan. The General Assembly must find ways to address the priorities that the Governor has outlined, including:
- Creating more Missouri exports
- Pulling in new automotive jobs throughout the state
- Training workers for high-tech careers
- Hiring more military veterans
- Jump starting job-creation in science and technology
- Creating jobs in rural communities
- Targeting high-growth industries–including ensuring a high quality health care workforce for the increasing needs of our growing elderly population.
And if they leave that work undone this year, Judy will be ready to push forward on these goals if you elect her as Lt. Governor.
