Judy’s father served 20 years in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps. From her firsthand experiences, Judy understands the sacrifices that military families make so that the rest of us can continue to enjoy the freedoms we all cherish as Americans.
The sacrifices of our veterans are profound, as is our debt of gratitude toward them.
Far too many veterans face dramatic challenges when the return to their communities from service overseas. And in the past, the services they need have often been far too difficult to obtain.
That’s why Judy has dedicated herself to finding ways to ensure that the services veterans need are made available to them as close to the communities where they live as is possible. Too often, veterans have to seek care far from their own communities–sometimes having to travel across the country to get the care they need. Judy will continue her push to ensure those services are delivered closer to home, by exploring innovation and collaboration between programs and between federal and state agencies. Bureaucracy should never get in the way of quality care for veterans.
From her platform on the Missouri Housing Development Commission, Judy would advocate for tax credits designed to make housing more affordable for returning veterans–including assistive technology designed to aid injured veterans in maintaining their independence.
She made this effort a priority as a state legislator, as a candidate for Congress, and during her tenure with the federal government. As Lt. Governor, Judy would chair the Governor’s Council for Veterans Affairs. In that position, she would continue her advocacy for Missouri’s veterans.
Missouri’s veterans gave us their best, and we owe them nothing less in return.
